Exfoliating Pads Gain Popularity for Skin Care Routines
November 4, 2025
Enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, and rough texture can make anyone sigh in frustration when looking in the mirror. But there’s hope: exfoliating pads might be the solution to restore your skin’s natural glow.
Exfoliating pads are cotton rounds soaked in skin-renewing ingredients designed to gently remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, addressing multiple skin concerns. Common active ingredients include:
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs): Work on the skin’s surface to slough off dead skin, brighten complexion, and reduce fine lines.
- Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA / Salicylic Acid): Oil-soluble, allowing deeper pore penetration to dissolve excess sebum and debris—ideal for blackheads and acne.
The choice between AHAs and BHAs depends on skin type and specific concerns.
After cleansing, gently swipe the pad across the face—avoiding the eye and lip areas—with extra attention to oily or textured zones (like the T-zone). Frequency should be limited to 1–3 times weekly, adjusted based on skin tolerance. First-time users should patch-test to check for sensitivity.
Mild tingling or redness is normal. Follow up with hydrating and soothing skincare products, and always apply sunscreen during the day , as exfoliation increases UV sensitivity.
While effective, exfoliating pads aren’t a cure-all. Severe skin conditions require dermatological consultation. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals and those with compromised skin barriers should avoid or use them cautiously. With proper selection and application, these pads can help achieve smoother, healthier-looking skin.
